A well-established produce grower/shipper/packer is searching for a Shipping Manager to join their team in Florida.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Coordinates with other managers in Production and Sales Team to ensure coordination of other functions such as production and inventory management.
· Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of shipping personnel.
· Maintains harmony among workers, resolves grievances and creates a positive culture for shipping personnel.
· Supervises multi-state shipping personnel.
· Issue written and oral instructions.
· Assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
· Schedule and execute loading activities.
· Schedule pick up and arrival schedules for all inbound/outbound loads.
· Track loads and communicate service issues to Sales Team.
· Act as after-hours contact for carriers and drivers pertaining to logistic issues.
· Communicate daily warehouse inventory for reconciliation and processing needs.
· Ensure daily accuracy of inventory and date code compliance.
· Ensure correct and timely outbound shipping in all locations using FIFO system.
· Works with Logistics Manager and Inventory on creating a more efficient inventory management. system.
· Works with Logistics Manager and Inventory on daily, weekly and monthly forecasting.
Skills and Qualifications:
· High School Diploma required. BS in Business, Logistics &Transportation, Accounting, or related field preferred and/or at least 3-5 years’ experience in shipping and/or transportation of perishable products in multi-state operations.
· Sales and inventory management experience a plus.
· Working knowledge of planning, forecasting and inventory management within the fast-paced environment of produce or related field/industry.
· Strong communication and leadership skills required.
· Knowledge of the inter and intrastate laws regarding transportation preferred.
· Strong planning, training, analytical, forecasting skills plus the ability to develop new and innovative ways to improve current processes and systems.
· Excellent computer skills including excel, word, PowerPoint.
· Ability to prepare technical reports with proficiency. Experience with Famous strongly preferred.
· Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
