Shipping Operations Manager manages shipping operations' daily activities, including order processing, inventory tracking, documentation, and transportation oversight. Utilizes enterprise resource planning (ERP) or other systems to record and track all shipping transactions, analyze performance metrics, and generate reports. Being a Shipping Operations Manager ensures shipping protocols and documentation meet required regulatory requirements for hazardous materials (DOT/HAZMAT) or special handling. Investigates and resolves shipping quality issues, damages, or lost freight claims. GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
* 7 years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity in a warehouse facility
* Knowledge of produce and inventory systems.
* Ability to schedule and manage personnel
* PC skills are required, including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
* Must have the ability to make decisions, maintain regular and acceptable attendance.
* Follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand, and follow posted work rules/procedures and to accept constructive criticism.
* Familiar with vacuum tube and nitrogen cooling.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Must have the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
* Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
* Must be able to work in a cold (35*) environment.
* Will have some exposure to fumes and airborne particles.
* Will have exposure to loud noises.
