Shipping Specialist jobs in Huntington, NY
Shipping Specialist prepares shipping documentation and processes orders. Coordinates the preparation and organization of bills of lading, packing slips, invoices, and required export licenses or compliance documents. Being a Shipping Specialist utilizes enterprise resource planning (ERP) or other systems to record and track all shipping transactions. Troubleshoots shipping delays or changes with carriers and communicates to customers. Additionally, Shipping Specialist ensures shipping protocols and documentation meet required regulatory requirements for hazardous materials (DOT/HAZMAT) or special handling. Investigates and resolves shipping non-conformance. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Shipping Specialist works under moderate supervision. Position Details Reports to Warehouse Manager Direct oversight of 3 to 5 associates Schedule: Monday - Friday 9am-6pm Responsibilities Maintain and develop a productive warehouse by hiring, training and providing professional development for all of its associates Supervise and coordinate the picking and shipping of outbound orders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness with both product and paperwork Ensure warehouse space is utilized effectively and kept clean and orderly Ensure integrity of inventory and confirm that cycle counts are completed Maintain security of warehouse and safety of all associates and equipment, reporting any accidents and conveying any issues to branch management May be responsible for providing back-up driver duties and responsibilities Qualifications A strong background in Warehouse operations and logistics, including shipping, receiving, delivery, and inventory is required Must be at least 18 years of age Valid state issued license is preferred 2 years of warehouse management or supervisory experience is preferred Material Handling Equipment Certification is a plus A working knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations Good judgment and decision-making abilities Great communication skills and the ability and desire to lead a team Ferguson is dedicated to providing meaningful benefits programs and products to our associates and their families—geared toward benefits, wellness, financial protection, and retirement savings.
