JOB TITLE : Shipping / Receiving Assistant

REPORTS TO : Shipping Department Supervisor

FLSA STATUS : Non-Exempt, Hourly

POSITION SUMMARY : Assist with preparing load for domestic and international shipping. Receiving shipments daily. Palletizing and shrink wrapping loads, measuring and weighing pallets and assisting Shipping Coordinator with daily duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Interprets invoices, bills of lading and general directions.
• Prepares merchandise for domestic and export shipments, including documentation, and keeps records pertaining thereto. Compares quantity and identification numbers of merchandise against orders.
• Notification and / or delivery of incoming product to end user.
• Confers with Supervisor or VP of Manufacturing on export shipments when necessary.
• Requires organization and interpersonal skills to coordinate with other departments and outside vendors.
• Receives and checks paperwork of incoming literature.
• Documentation verification for AIB standards.
• General housekeeping, maintenance and organization of the dock and inventory areas.
• Uses Process Shipper software for processing shipments.
• Assists in creating of Bill of Lading.
• Uses Sage computer program to retrieve information and create documentation.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Able to work with minimal supervision.
• Able to assist workers in solving work related problems.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule to accommodate shipping needs.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
• Must have good basic math skills.
• Must be able to become a certified fork lift operator.
• Must have previous experience in shipping and receiving department duties.
• Must be able to operate a computer and be familiar with Microsoft Office products.
• General Education Diploma.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

• Must be able to lift / carry 45 lbs without assistance.
• Must be able to stand for up to 4 hours at a time.
• Must be able to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, climb and walk.
