Job Summary:
The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor supervises workers who confirm and record the receipt of shipments, prepare items for shipping, and load and unload trucks. The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is also responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the shipping/receiving department, audit, managing their direct reports, and handling general reporting/paperwork as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manage 4-8 direct reports.
- Evaluate direct reports on performance, discipline, and be part of the hiring process.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
- Oversee all aspects of shipping and receiving operations in a warehouse or distribution center.
- Assign tasks and provide direction to team members to ensure efficient workflow and productivity.
- Supervise and manage the audit team responsible for conducting regular cycle counts and inventory audits.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members to promote development and growth.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure that all shipments are properly labeled and documented.
- Coordinate with vendors, carriers, and other departments to schedule deliveries and pickups.
- Troubleshoot any issues related to inventory, delivery schedules, or shipping errors.
- Utilize warehouse management systems and other technical tools to manage inventory and track shipments.
- Develop and implement processes and procedures to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Monitor performance metrics and implement corrective actions to address any issues.
- Provide training and coaching to team members to improve their skills and knowledge.
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment.
- Communicate with customers to address any questions or concerns related to shipping and receiving operations.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a shipping and receiving role is required.
- At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or management role is preferred.
- Experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment is preferred.
- Experience with warehouse management systems and other technical tools is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking during an 8 hours shift.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- The employee frequently is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee is occasionally required to walk and talk or hear.
