Shoe Repairer repairs damaged shoes. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Being a Shoe Repairer may be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. May require 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Additionally, Shoe Repairer is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a supervisor or manager. General Purpose of Position: As part of the management team, a Department Manager works directly with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Managers to ensure the responsibilities of day-to-day management and operations of the retail store are being met. The Department Manager helps with implementing strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, and increase profitability. The Department Manager is responsible for opening and closing the store when the Store Manager and Assistant Store Managers are not present. A Department Manager is a role model and leader. He or She must have the ability to make informative decisions, solve problems in a critical and diligent manner, and effectively manage the store when the Store Manager is not present.
