Shoe Sewing Machine Operator/Tender sets-up and operates various sewing machines to join parts of shoe materials together. May require a high school diploma or its equivalent and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Being a Shoe Sewing Machine Operator/Tender is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Additionally, Shoe Sewing Machine Operator/Tender performs a variety of tasks. Job Summary: Operates sewing machine to join, assemble, hem, or reinforce, patterns to make complete seat covers.
Job Responsibilities:
· Read work instruction & weekly schedule for product assignments.
· Operate single, double, or triple needle sewing machines to sew patterns together.
· Meet outstanding quality requirements.
· Troubleshoot machine and material problems.
· Perform set-up and trial runs for all new models.
· Take inventory of parts at workstation and in the department.
· Rotate to other jobs in the department (vac-form & hot weld).
· Proactive to come up with new ideas to reduce Emery consumption & improved quality & processes.
· Maintain a clean work area.
· Report all machine down time to team leader
· Follow all aspects of ISO 14000 and ISO 9001 standards
· Comply with all safety policies and procedures
· Perform all other duties assigned.
Job Requirements:
To perform this job successfully the individual must be able to work in a fast paced environment. Physically they will be sitting and or standing for the work day. Additionally, must have ability to kneel, squat, lift, and push within work area. These activities require reach, grip, and pinch movements to complete assigned tasks. Communication skills required are verbal, written, and demonstration skills. Must have basic math skills (adding, subtraction, dividing, multiplication, and measurement tools). Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
