    Major duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

    • Inspecting worn, damaged, or stained linen and uniform items to determine if they can be economically repaired and made serviceable
    • Operating, stocking, and restocking of the Autovalet Dispensing System
    • Collecting items, determining to be beyond economical repair, salvaging such items, keeping quantity records of all salvage by type of piece and date
    • Accomplishing minor alterations to Government uniforms such as lengthening or shortening dresses, coats, etc., to enhance serviceability
    • Maintaining inventory of Sewing Room and thermo-patch supplies and requesting supervisor to order additional stock items
    • Issuing and maintaining receipt signatures for uniforms issued to employees of all services
    • Exchanging clean uniforms for soiled uniforms on a one-for-one basis
    • Understanding Green Environmental Management System (GEMS)
    • Performing other related duties as assigned
    Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 07:00 a.m. to 03:30 p.m.

    Qualifications

    PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: Light physical effort is required to perform recurring duties. The incumbent is required to continually sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and carry in order to satisfactorily accomplish his/her duties. The incumbent works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area and is subject to eyestrain and from close-up work.

    Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications. For this position, the job element method is used to match what you, the applicant, can do against what the work calls for. Your knowledge, skills and abilities will be compared to the knowledge, skills and abilities (called job elements) needed for success. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element (WG-2 and higher only; screen-outs are not applicable to WG-1).
