We are looking for a qualified Computer Technician to install, maintain and repair computers and related equipment for customers who come into our computer shop. As a computer technician you must be well-versed in computer systems including Windows, Mac for both laptops and desktops; Android, Windows and Mac OS (tablet and phones).

The ideal candidate will be able to work diligently and accurately and will possess a great problem-solving ability in order to fix issues and ensure functionality. The goal is to maintain high quality repairs for consumers who bring in their devices for repair.

The candidate must have great communication skills to discuss problems and solutions with customers.

We teach youth computer skills and your ability to work with us to teach youth is needed. The organization is called BYOC Camps and Clubs. BYOC stands for Build Your Own Computer. We teach computer hardware, coding, circuitry, robotics and web design. We teach on Saturdays during the school year and all week during the summer.

Responsibilities

• Set up hardware and install and configure software and drivers
• Manage security options and software in computers to maintain privacy and protection from attacks
• Perform regular upgrades to ensure systems remain updated
• Troubleshoot system failures or bugs and provide solutions to restore functionality
• Arrange maintenance sessions to discover and fix inefficiencies
• Provide data backup services and virus removal services
• Keep records of repairs and fixes for future reference
• Offer timely technical support and teach users how to utilize computers correctly

Skills

• Proven experience as computer technician or similar role
• Thorough knowledge of computer systems and IT components
• Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
• Good experience doing data backup
• Good knowledge and experience removing viruses
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Very good communication abilities
• Exceptional organizing and time-management skills
• Relevant certifications (e.g. CompTIA A ) will be an advantage

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed
