We are searching for hardworking, dependable and fun people to join the catering team at this small, family-owned cheese shop in Santa Barbara. We’ve been open 20 years, are still thriving & looking to grow - we’re looking for enthusiastic people who want to be a part of a great team.
We’re looking for someone who can work 28-30 hours per week and we are open Tuesday through Saturday. Candidates must be able to work these days consistently. Ideally we are looking for someone that has either some culinary experience or a love for cooking. You will have to follow recipes and be able to reproduce platters to exacting specifications, so an eye for detail is key.
The position will have two roles: The first of them will be platter production which involves building platters, prepping ingredients, etc. The second role that would be to assist the catering manager with organizing the daily production schedule, ordering product, taking orders, answering customer questions, and training of new hires.
The culture of the business is very positive; we would like someone who is able to fit into that and adds to the atmosphere with an upbeat demeanor. Starting on the ground floor, this position has room for growth for the right person.
Please note: Our catering offering consists of assorted appetizer & event platters, we do not offer off-site event catering such as weddings & banquets.
Job Requirements/Qualifications
-Must be comfortable using knives, commercial meat slicers, sampling and handling cheese & cured meats.
-Working in a team environment but also able to work independently if required
-Self starter
-Eager to learn about new products (cheese, meat, specialty foods)
-Detail oriented with the ability to multitask
-Ability to be adaptable and flexible in a fast paced working environment
-Keep a clean and functional work space
-Lifting 40 pounds on occasion
-Standing for 8 hours a day
-Comfortable using a computer, in particular Excel &/or Google Sheets.
-Have a driving license and be willing and able to deliver orders occasionally
