Sleep Center Manager manages and oversees the day-to-day operations of one or more sleep centers. Responsibilities may include staffing, training, scheduling, budgeting, and marketing for the center(s). Being a Sleep Center Manager ensures patient care meets high-quality standards. Develops and implements policies and procedures for the sleep center(s). Additionally, Sleep Center Manager typically requires a bachelor's degree. Requires registration as a Polysomnographic Technician. Typically reports to a director. The Sleep Center Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Sleep Center Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Overview

    The Polysomnographic Technician performs diagnostic and therapeutic polysomnographic studies, which includes C-PAP/BiPAP therapy, under the supervision of a R.PSG.T. and the Sleep Disorder Center Medical Director.  The polysomnographic technician performs intensive monitoring of physiological and neurological parameters in patients of varying ages and medical conditions who are referred for sleep dysfunctions.  Testing is performed in accordance with standards of practice as defined by Bothwell Regional Health Center and the Association of Sleep Disorders Centers.  Utilizes a variety of sophisticated instrumentation and handles decision making in the treatment and handing of individual patients.   Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement of the processes and services on an on-going basis.

               

    The Polysomnographic Technician is directly responsible to the Director of Neurodiagnostics and Cardiopulmonary.

    Responsibilities

    1. Introduce the patient to the testing environment and procedures to be used, address questions and concerns and attend to the patient’s comfort and safety during procedure. Also, prepare the patient for the procedure, testing all equipment and recording devices and making adjustments.2. Observe and notate all patient behavior, making appropriate changes in monitoring devices and/or recording equipment as required. Also, collect, analyze and document data including, but not limited to, alert and sleep stage changes, respiratory and cardiac changes, changes in neurological status, and other parameters in patients ages newborn to geriatric.3. Demonstrate skills, competencies and working knowledge of procedures and protocols to provide high quality evaluations in a safe and efficient manner. Maintain current knowledge to assure the safe working environment and demonstrate practical application of all policies and procedures relative to safety, infection control, universal precautions and risk management.4. Identify potential emergency situations and respond appropriately. Also, demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age specific care in the treatment, assessment and education of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.5. Participate in on-going education in polysomnographic technology, sleep medicine, and related fields, through staff meetings, in-services, attendance at workshops and trade-society meetings and independent ready/study to keep abreast of latest developments and continuously improve and upgrade skills.

    Qualifications

    1. Education  a.) High School Diploma  b.) Approved sleep medicine program by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists or educational/experience equivalent.

    2. Licensure/Certification/Registration  a.) Current CPR certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).  b.) Must attend an AASM accredited A-Step program attempt registry in polysomnography within 18 months of date of hire and pass registry with three years of date of hire.  c.) Registry must be held by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (R.PSG.T) and/or American Board of Sleep Medicine (RST).

    3. Work Experience.  a.) Documented training in EEG or sleep medicine preferred.
