Small Engine Mechanic repairs fractional-horsepower gasoline engines used to power lawnmowers, garden tractors, and similar machines. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Being a Small Engine Mechanic may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Small Engine Mechanic relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The primary responsibilities of the small Engine Repair Specialist position are to provide amazing customer service, generate sales, provide product knowledge and support, and support the store management goals to build this business. Additionally, this position will be the designated Stihl Program Captain and Technician. The candidates must have training and experience with Small Engine Service & Repair.
The major responsibilities for this position include:
• Comes to work as a happy, friendly associate ready to help every customer.
• Will become the Stihl Sales & Service Captain for the store.
• Establish a Stihl Service and Repair program and business for this Ace Hardware.
• Will participate and complete within 60 days all Ace & Stihl specialized training for the role.
• Ensure customers receive amazing service which follows the S.A.L.E.S process and mystery shop standards.
• Aid customers in locating merchandising in store, on acehardware.com, as well as, processing special orders.
• Uses Radio headset to communicate with other associates in working with customers and business needs.
• Awareness for customer interaction of all promotions and advertisements.
• Education/Training: High School degree, Vocational Training on Engine Repair.
• One to three years’ experience working on small engine repairs.
• Possess a vast product knowledge of outdoor power products along with a willingness to learn.
• Previous experience in a retail environment either in sales and merchandising roles.
• A happy and friendly person with a commitment to service, excellence and helping others.
• Sales and marketing experience with retail programs, establishing relationships and working with customers
• Knowledge and experience working in retail operational computer systems, MS Word and Excel a plus.
• A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction
• Team player with excellent interpersonal skills with a strong willingness to learn.
• Excellent communication skills, organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekday shifts, evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business.
