Being a Small Engine Mechanic may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Small Engine Mechanic relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.     Summary/Objective

    The mechanical assembler troubleshoots and creates assembly procedures requiring minimal guidance on assembly techniques. The assembler III will also construct, assemble, or rebuild entire products or components of products according customer specifications and company work instructions.

    The Electrical Assembler is responsible for mounting, connecting, assembling, and securing parts and components of low voltage electronic equipment. Performs simple to moderate wiring complexity and assembly working with management and engineering team to clarify assembly problems.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Inspect job travelers before starting the job to ensure routing steps are correct and products are properly tagged.
    • Position or align components for assembly, manually or using hoists.
    • Troubleshoot, rework, repair, or replace damaged parts or assemblies.
    • Create or update assembly work instructions.
    • Read and interpret assembly blueprints or specifications manuals and plan assembly or building operations.
    • Fasten or install product components to form assemblies or subassemblies, using hand tools, and power tools.
    • Create and maintain a clean and organized shop and work areas: sweep and clean as necessary, keeping clutter
      and trip hazards out of work areas.
    • Use PPE, per training, as required for the specific task being performed.
    • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
    • Review and interpret engineer change requests when needed and submit change requests to improve production.
    • Understand the amount of pieces that need to be assembled per hour, required assembled pieces per job, and be
      able to achieve those goals
    • Reads and interprets data from electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams
    • Wire from schematics and build industrial control enclosures
    • Perform layout and the modification of metal, and plastic enclosures/panels
    • Layout/mount electrical panel components including: circuit breakers, transformers, relays, contactors, terminals, input/output devices and/or all related industrial control devices
    • Build and troubleshoot electrical systems including, but not limited to control panels, control stations, and junction boxes
    • Build Wiring Harnesses
    • Diagnose errors or technical problems and aid with determination of short-term & long-term solutions
    • Operate safety sensitive machinery in the performance of duties and responsibilities. Machinery includes but is not limited to fork lift truck, scissor lift, tugger truck, and driving of auto/trailer
    • Must be able to read and understand prints on a high level, and understand the intent of the design
    • Collaborates with engineering / operations for improvements to designs as necessary
    • Inform Department Manager of any trends seen within the manufacturing process that do not comply with designs
    • Other jobs and/or duties as directed by Supervisor or Production Manager

    Qualifications

    • Education/Experience
      • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
      • At least 2 years' mechanical trouble shooting experience required
      • Low Voltage DS experience is required
      • Control panel wiring on industrial control systems and components (relays, PLC's, contactors, power supplies, etc.), preferred
      • Associate's Degree or equivalent training in Electrical, Control Systems Technology, or related field is strongly preferred
    • Knowledge/Technology
      • Production and Processing - Knowledge of basic hand and power tools and fasteners
      • Design - knowledge of blueprint designs and technical specifications
      • CAD Schematic experience (a plus), but not required
    • Skills

    Physical requirements

    • Must be able to lift and move 50 lb parts or fixtures.
    • Must be able to stoop, bend, and reach overhead to assemble and/or move products.
    • Must be able to work in safety sensitive role, fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of drugs or alcohol, including prescribed or over the counter drugs or other substances which may alter job performance during working times (e.g., drowsiness, impaired reflexes or reaction time, lack of concentration, etc.).
    • Must be able to stand and work on your feet for an entire shift.
