SCHOOL: Middle School
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Create a school “learning commons” by developing and administering an integrated school library media program.
- Provide leadership in the design of the school’s new library media center to be an active learning space that meets the diverse needs of students and teachers.
- Create and maintain an inviting, safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment that fosters intellectual inquiry.
- Develop and maintain an up-to-date, culturally diverse collection of print and non-print resources.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to create an environment that is conducive to active and participatory learning, and ensures resource-based instructional practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 062 School Library Media Specialist CT Certification
- Demonstrated expertise with instructional, informational and library management technologies
- Demonstrated knowledge of current teaching and learning research, and its application to grade level curriculum
- Ability to use available statistics and other data to make program development decisions regarding the library collection and program
- Demonstrated knowledge of standards for information and technology literacy, including the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and American Association of School Librarians (AASL) standards.
