  • Responsibilities

    • Assists clinical therapist with the organization of treatment teams and assists with conducing treatment team meetings.  
    • Coordinates team decision-making regarding the care and treatment of the child and services to the child's family, as identified in the comprehensive treatment plan. The treatment plan must be congruent with the family's ISP, and all services provided by the agency must be authorized by the ISP prior to their provision.
    • Responsible for providing information and training as needed to treatment team members in regards to the STFC model. Prepares members to work with STFC foster parents to facilitate their participation in the treatment of the child in a manner consistent with STFC practices and values.
    • Takes an active role in identifying goals and coordinating treatment services provided to the child by persons or agencies outside the STFC program, whether or not these persons or agencies participate regularly as treatment team members.
    • Provides regular support and technical assistance to the STFC foster parents in their implementation of the treatment plan and with regard to other responsibilities they undertake.
    • This will include the design or the revision of the in-home treatment strategies including pro-active goal setting and planning and the provision of ongoing child-specific skills training and problem-solving in the home during home visits through in-home teaching, modeling,coaching, and feedback.
    • Responsible for the assessment of the child's progress, observation and assessment of family interactions, stress, and safety issues.
    • Provides at least weekly contact in person with the STFC foster parent of each child on the caseload.
    • Visits the STFC foster home to meet with at least one STFC foster parent no less than bi-weekly.
    • Provides weekly face-to-face contact with each child on the caseload in order to build relationships, allow the child the opportunity to communicate special concerns, to make direct assessment of the child's progress, and to monitor for potential abuse.
    • Responsible for collaborating with the DHR caseworker in establishing regular contact and visitation between children and their parents, other family members, and significant others, as specified in the family's ISP.
    • Assists with monthly in-service training.
    • Responsible for involving the child's parents in treatment team meetings, plans, and decisions and for keeping them informed of the child's progress in the program. Is also responsible for documenting any identified problems in maintaining family connections and for reporting this information to the family's DHR caseworker.
    • Works jointly with the DHR caseworker and the family planning (ISP) team in identifying which community resources and/or services are required and how they may be used to achieve the goals of the child's treatment plan. Will assist in creating and coordinating the provision of such services and shall provide technical assistance to community service providers as needed to maximize the benefit of these services to the child.
    • Responsible, along with other staff designated by the agency, for maintaining 24-hour, 7-days-a-week on-call coverage to the STFC foster parents, children, and their families.
    • Attends departmental and other meetings as required and performs duties as a positive role model for clients and colleagues.
    • Utilizes chain of command in all aspects of program and follows organization's policies and procedures.      
    • Performs community relations by ensuring all written and verbal information is clear, concise, legible and accurate.
    • Communicates and cooperate with families, relevant external personnel, and staff members to assist in meeting clients' treatment needs.
    • Documents all external and internal contacts and relays client information according to company and governmental guidelines maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
    • Completes required paperwork to the quality and timeliness determined by policy/procedure and the clinical director.
    • Uses sound clinical knowledge of mental health, sexual reactive and abuse issues and understands and demonstrates ability to prioritize the patients needs in relation to presenting problems.
    •  Uses knowledge of and plans treatment using the most recent treatment practices for juveniles with sexually abusive behaviors.
    • Incorporates knowledge of home environment and available support/community resources in discharge planning. Discharge planning reflects understanding of life-long treatment issues and incorporates this understanding in recommendations regarding placement and continued treatment.
    • Displays appropriate knowledge of child and adolescent client population.
    • Understands the difference between age appropriate behaviors versus inappropriate/abnormal behaviors of the population 6-18 years of age.
    • Participates in and receives supervision from the Case Supervisor. Supervision meetings are scheduled and involve topics such as case consultation, facility and programmatic issues, and professional development.
    • Attends all required training as scheduled.

    Qualifications

    A minimum of a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related mental health field from an accredited university.

     

     

     

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

     

     

     

    Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

     

     

     

    Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
