  • Creative Alternatives, Inc. is recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Social Worker to work with our resource families and foster youth located within Merced, Stanislaus and surrounding areas.

    Qualifications:

    Education and Experience

    • A master’s degree or higher from an accredited or state approved graduate school that includes but is not limited to, in social work or social welfare, marriage, family, and child counseling, counseling psychology, social psychology or equivalent education and experience as determined by the licensing agency or able to obtain an exception from Community Care Licensing.
    • At least three semester units of field practice at the master’s degree level, or six months’ full-time equivalent experience in a public or private social service agency setting.
    • At least nine semester units of coursework related to children and families or, within the first year of employment, experience in working with children and families as a major responsibility of the position under the supervision of a supervising social worker.
    • At least three semester units in working with minority populations; six months of experience in working with minority populations; or training in cultural competency and working with minority population within the first six months of employment as a condition of employment.
    • At least three semester units in child welfare, or two years of experience in a public or private child welfare social service setting.
    • Meet all state licensing requirements.
    • Must pass DOJ, FBI, and Child Abuse index clearance.
    • Must have a valid California driver’s license and a good driving record, DMV printout required.
    • Successful completion of LIC 503 Health Screening Report and TB clearance.
    • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.

    Knowledge of:

    • Treatment planning.
    • Social work and or counseling theories/principles.
    • Trauma informed care practices.
    • Best practices for working with families and youth.

    Abilities:

    • Be highly independent and work as a team.
    • Be highly organized, able to create a daily schedule with many different tasks, able to manage projects, and deadlines.
    • Follow through with job assignments and complete deadlines with minimal supervision.
    • Use critical thinking skills.
    • Have positive interaction with clients, families, and community partners.
    • Follow directions and meet deadlines.
    • Communicate effectively with administration and outside agencies.
    • Understand and ensure personal rights of foster youth are not being violated.
    • Produce clear and concise documentation.

    Essential Function and Responsibilities:

    • Evaluation of the child and nonminor dependent for placement and continued placement in a Resource Family home.
    • Develop and update appraisal needs and service plans for each client, including identifying individuals who are important to the child or nonminor dependent, and in the case of an Indian child, identifying the Indian child’s Tribe(s).
    • Prepare quarterly reports for each client.
    • Provide written documentation in electronic database for contacts with clients and families, according to policy.
    • Address complaints and investigations regarding clients.
    • Ensure resource homes are following Community Care Licensing regulations.
    • Meet with families and youth, providing support, supervision, and advocacy.
    • Protect the rights and dignity of each child.
    • Attend client psychotropic medication management appointments.
    • Transport clients and families in company and/or personal vehicles.
    • Attend school related meetings, such as, Individual Education Plans (IEP) and Student Study Team (SST) meetings.
    • Provide crisis intervention, counseling, and case management services to families and children.
    • Conduct home visits at the resource home for foster youth and in the community.
    • Support transition plan and prepare clients for lower levels of care, reunification, or emancipation.
    • Participate and present in agency trainings.
    • Monitor client binders.
    • Provide on-call services after business hours.
    • Continually assess clients’ changing needs and develop plans/systems of support.
    • Attend Child & Family Team (CFT) meetings for each client.
    • Collaborate with service providers and outside agencies.
    • Facilitate providers meetings to support youth and families.
    • Supervise family visits.
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Physical Demands:

    • Must be able to bend at the waist, kneel, crouch, climb and balance.
    • Must be able to read, write, and visually see clients.
    • Must be able to hear with or without the use of hearing aid(s) sufficient to hear conversations with others, understandable voice, and speech patterns.
    • Must have manual dexterity and coordination sufficient to operate office equipment.
    • Must be able to sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
    • Must have use of hands to handle and/or feel; reach with hands and arms.
    • Must lift, push, pull or carry up to 25 lbs.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: From $66,560.00 per year
