    Overview

    Job Summary

    Researches, analyzes and defines business requirements and user specifications to effectively design, code, test, document, and implement new and existing software programs and applications. 

     

    Typical Duties and Responsibilities

    • Analyzes user specifications and requirements.
    • Encodes, tests, debugs, and documents programs on large-scale, complex projects.
    • Revises and updates programs and documentation as required.
    • Plans, develops, tests, and documents computer programs, applying knowledge of programming techniques.
    • Evaluates user requests for new or modified programs to determine feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current system, and computer capabilities.
    • Consults with user to identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives.
    • Reads manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn ways to develop programs that meet user requirements.
    • Formulates plan outlining steps required to develop program, using structured analysis and design.
    • Prepares flowcharts and diagrams to illustrate sequence of steps program must follow and to describe logical operations involved.
    • Designs screen displays to accomplish goals of user request.
    • Converts project specifications into sequence of detailed instructions and logical steps for coding, applying knowledge of computer programming techniques and computer languages.
    • Analyzes, reviews, and alters programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
    • Writes documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections.
    • Gathers information from the end-user through interviews, conducting meetings, determining needs, etc.
    • Programs software by utilizing computer languages, reading manuals, giving presentations, etc.
    • Trouble-shoots problems by being on call, analyzing the system, problem solving, etc.
    • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.

    Requirements

    Education/Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
    • Minimum of seven (3) years of related software development experience.
    • Required expertise: IBM iSeries RPG, DB2, XML & JSON.
    • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools for automation and integration of software development processes.
    • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
    • Performing database analysis, design and normalization.
    • Demonstrating excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Efficiently prioritizing and perform a variety of simultaneous tasks (multi-tasking) in a high-pressure environment, demonstrating initiative and self-direction.
    • Applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail in order to effectively monitor progress and complete assignments, performing all duties with efficiency and accuracy.
    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

     Ability to:

    • Work effectively in a team-oriented environment, establishing and maintaining good rapport with co-workers, supervisors, and others.
    • Create data flow diagrams, entity relationship diagrams and flowcharts.
    • Perform all duties with efficiency and accuracy.
    • Work on-call situations to resolve problems.
    • Perform all tasks with integrity and extreme confidentiality. Prioritize, delegate, direct and organize tasks while meeting strict deadlines.
    • Be self-directed and demonstrate excellent time management skills.
    • Utilize excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

     Machines and Equipment Operated:

    • Office machines (e.g., copy machine, computer terminal, telephone, fax, etc) and other devices.

     Preferred Credentials:

    • Preferred expertise: MS SQL Server, PHP, JavaScript, CSS, jQuery and node.JS
