    We are looking for a Director of Software Engineering who is passionate about leading and nurturing an innovative technology team while promoting a culture of excellence in engineering and operations. This role involves solving complex business challenges in a fast-paced, collaborative, and inclusive environment. At Capital One, you will be part of a diverse group of individuals who are driven to solve real problems and meet the needs of our customers.

    As the Director of Software Engineering, you will be responsible for leading our Reliability and Observability efforts. This includes improving our cloud failover strategy, investing in tools and AI-driven solutions for anomaly detection, and ensuring the overall health of our consumer-facing platform. You will work with other teams to establish Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and conduct regular GameDay exercises to maintain platform reliability.

    In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies such as AWS, Java, Python, New Relic, Splunk, Datadog, Swift, and Kotlin. We encourage innovation, outside-the-box thinking, and collaboration to develop cloud-native solutions.

    Key Responsibilities:
    - Lead multiple delivery teams and mentor team members in their career development and performance.
    - Develop technical strategies, roadmaps, and visions for the platforms you oversee.
    - Collaborate with product managers to understand application requirements and testing scenarios, and continuously improve software engineering practices.
    - Design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions using full-stack development tools and technologies.
    - Ensure the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of our solutions.
    - Stay informed about tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in technology communities, and mentor other engineers.
    - Foster innovation, inclusion, teamwork, and diversity in the engineering community.
    - Lead efforts to deploy applications in AWS environments.

    Basic Qualifications:
    - Bachelor's Degree.
    - Minimum of 7 years of experience in software engineering or software development.
    - Minimum of 5 years of experience in people management.
    - Minimum of 5 years of experience with AWS.
    - Minimum of 3 years of experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).

    Preferred Qualifications:
    - Master's Degree.
    - 10 years of experience in software development.
    - 6 years of experience with public cloud providers (AWS, GCP).
    - 5 years of experience in Agile practices.
    - 3 years of experience in modernizing technology stacks.

    Salary:
    - New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $269,400 - $307,500 for Director, Software Engineering.
    - San Francisco, California (Hybrid On-Site): $285,400 - $325,700 for Director, Software Engineering.
    *(Note: Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on agreed-upon hours. Other locations will have their own salary ranges.)*
