Smith Engineering Company is seeking a Civil Engineer Project Manager to join our Albuquerque, NM office. Engineering services include municipal utilities, flood control & drainage, water & wastewater, land & site development, transportation, structural, and construction phase services. Engineering responsibilities include the prompt and accurate completion of projects, and appropriate judgment to make qualified decisions relevant to design. Project Management consists of obtaining, planning, directing, assigning, and managing the work of project team members.

Responsibilities

• Formulates a course of action to guide a project to completion.
• Starts at the beginning of a project, with the scope of work, and continues throughout the life of a project.
• Establishes milestones and considers possible constraints. Solicits participation of all parties involved in a project. Provides an explicit operational plan to guide the entire project throughout its life.
• Arranges resources in a systematic manner to fit the project plan. A project shall be organized around the work to be performed. Provides a breakdown of the work to be performed into manageable units, which can be defined and measured.
• Selects individuals who have the expertise to produce the work and have the knowledge to design, coordinate, and construct the project.
• Provides the guidance for the work required to complete a project. Organizes the people on the project staff into an effective team. Collectively directs each individual's work in a common effort and in a common direction.
• Measures, reports, and forecasts deviations in the project scope, budget, and schedule.
• Develops corrective actions, addresses and corrects any deficiencies.

Requirements

• New Mexico PE license required.
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in civil engineering or other field with equivalent civil engineering work experience.
• Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Intrastate travel may be required.
• AutoCAD/ Civil 3D experience is preferred.
• WaterCAD, StormCAD, FlowMaster, CulvertMaster experience is a plus.
• Field experience is a plus.
• Formal Project Management Training is preferred.

Pay: $93,900.00 - $109,200.00 per year
