Software Engineering Manager

    Software engineers at Sigray collaborate with our scientists to develop the front- and back-end software needed for a user to interface with our scientific equipment.

    The ideal candidate should have:

    • Experience designing software for complex equipment (e.g., semiconductor or medical equipment) through the entire product lifecycle
    • Experience in Python and/or C# (ideally, working knowledge of MFC and UWP)
    • Demonstrated leadership in system architecture and propagating key concepts throughout different product lines (herding cats)
    • Experience or familiarity with hardware controls
    • Interest in building and maintaining high quality software and experience with source control (i.e., Git, Subversion, Bitbucket, etc.) and automated testing

    Requirements:

    • BS in a computational field such as computer science, electrical engineering, bioinformatics, physics, or equivalent experience
    • Master’s/Ph.D./Work experience is a plus

    Additional factors of interest to the team are experience with:

    • Continuous integration and iterative product development
    • Automated testing
    • Product specifications for software development
    • Constructing graphical user interfaces (GUIs). Prior experience with Qt frameworks and/or PySide / PyQt is a plus.
    • X-ray techniques (e.g., computed tomography, laminography, X-ray microscopy)

The X-ray systems include X-ray spectroscopy, microfluorescence, and nano- and micro- computed tomography, as well as several unreleased instruments under active development. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of instrumentation design and programming of motion control systems.

    The company was started by Dr. Wenbing Yun, who previously founded Xradia, a world leading x-ray microscopy company that was later successfully acquired by Carl Zeiss as its x-ray microscopy unit. Sigray is well-funded by government grants and counts many of the leading international institutions (companies and universities) as its customers.

    Pay: $130,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
