Being a Soil Conservationist applies a wide range concepts, practices, and procedures from two or more specialized fields of science, such as agronomy, soil science, forestry, or agriculture. May require a bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences or a related field with at least 5 years of work experience. Additionally, Soil Conservationist may direct the work of a small group of employees. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.     We are seeking an experienced and talented Soil Technician II to join our Southern California team for our Santa Clarita office. This is a non-exempt position.

    Responsibilities:
    • Confirm adherence to the approved project geotechnical reports, building codes, and regulatory agency grading ordinances during grading and construction
    • Prepare and review field paperwork, maps, and test sheets and submit them daily/weekly, as required
    • Effectively communicate with contractors, surveyors, clients, project managers, and supervisor
    • Communicate frequently with project manager and other technicians to remain informed about current projects
    • Communicate project progress and special situations or problems daily to direct supervisor and project manager
    • Attend tailgate safety meetings, loss prevention meetings, and other required meetings
    • Follow company policies, procedures and safety protocols


    Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma, GED
    • 4-year college degree in Earth Science or Engineering is a plus
    • 5 years of soil and concrete testing experience or equivalent
    • Ability to write daily reports
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret design plans and project instructions
    • Detail oriented and desire to learn technical skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 80 lbs. occasionally with or without accommodation, sometimes over substantial distances
    • Nuclear moisture density gauge operator certification (required)
    • Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record
    • Must have your own vehicle with an ability to go off-road on undeveloped property

    Preferred Certifications:
    • American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade 1 Certification
    • Caltrans Certifications: CTM 125, 216, 231, 375, 504, 518, 523, 533, 539 and 540
    • 40 Hour Hazwoper Training
