Soil Scientist studies, investigates, and conducts experiments on different soil/plant types to determine use capabilities of soils, and effects of alternative practices on soil productivity. Applies a wide range concepts, practices, and procedures from two or more specialized fields of science, such as agronomy, soil science, forestry, or agriculture. Being a Soil Scientist may require a bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences or a related field with at least 5 years of work experience. May direct the work of a small group of employees. Additionally, Soil Scientist relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Typically reports to a senior manager and may be considered the lead for a specific area or unit. SUMMARY
As a key member of the R&D department, this individual will provide critical scientific skills to assists in the development and scale up of biological and chemical reagents.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
1. Development and Production of buffers, and immunological diagnostic reagents
2. Planning and coordinating experiments
3. Documenting, analyzing and presenting results
4. Good laboratory techniques and basic lab duties
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biological Sciences or related area with 3 years of experience
EXPERIENCE
Requires one or more years of experience in good laboratory techniques, immunodiagnostic lab setting a plus.
SKILLS
Must have the skills to recognize unusual results and troubleshoot testing problems
Must be able to write, review, update and follow SOPs (standard operating procedures)
Must be able to carry out work in a clean environment
Must be capable of evaluating, interpreting and reporting test results
Must have experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
