Annual Salary: $45,000 - $55,000

Summary:

Prairie Fruits Farm is seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our team at our farm-to-table restaurant. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fine dining, upscale casual dining, or farm-to-table cuisine, along with proven leadership skills in a back-of-house setting. As the Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Chef, assisting in menu planning, team management, and ensuring exceptional food quality and service standards. Responsibilities:

• Work as the direct management assistant to the Chef, serving as second in command in the kitchen.
• Prepare foods for service according to assignments by the Chef or other management.
• Assist in planning events and weekly specials, contributing creative ideas and culinary expertise.
• Provide direction to all kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
• Actively participate in team member development, providing training and mentorship as needed.
• Maintain excellent time management skills and attention to detail to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Collaborate with management and other team members to achieve operating and financial goals.
• Ensure food quality meets our high standards and exceeds customer expectations.
• Stay informed about current culinary trends and techniques, actively engaging in continuing education.
• Demonstrate a positive and strong work ethic, leading by example and inspiring excellence in others.

Requirements:

• 6 years of restaurant/cooking experience in fine dining, upscale casual dining, or farm-to-table restaurant settings.
• 2 years of strong back-of-house leadership experience, with a proven track record of team member development.
• High school diploma or GED required; 2-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major preferred.
• Ability to take charge and lead independently, while also being collaborative and supportive within a team environment.
• Pastry experience is an advantage
