The Gathering is looking for an energetic person to join our kitchen leadership as a Sous Chef.  

The Sous Chef position for The Gathering properties will partner with the Executive Chef to oversee and carry out all kitchen duties. These responsibilities include on-the-spot decision making and the ability to cultivate a comfortable environment for customers, as well as make The Gathering one of the most highly respected properties in Findlay. In addition, duties will include assisting the Executive Chef in recruiting new employees, responding to customer issues, and developing new menu options

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Helps with overall food preparation for lunch and dinner
• Learns healthy cooking techniques and adheres to the designated cooking methods to ensure all menu items are consistently presented for maximum nutrition and flavor.
• Strives to improve cooking skills and expands knowledge about food products and techniques.
• Assists with the cleaning, sanitation and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers and all storage areas.
• Performs additional responsibilities as requested by the Executive Chef
• Ensures that food is properly stored.
• Participates in establishing and maintaining a comfortable atmosphere in the kitchen.

Qualifications: 

• High school diploma required
• 2-year Culinary Arts degree and/or other culinary certification
• 1-3 years of experience cooking in a professional kitchen
• ServSafe certification
• Vast knowledge in culinary arts, including any new up and coming food trends
• Knowledgeable and dexterous using all manner of complex kitchen equipment
• Professional communication skills required
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to work fast, effectively and stay focused under pressure
• Understanding of basic kitchen sanitation
• Must be able to perform repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods of time
• Excellent customer service skills
