Position Summary This position is responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of the Construction & Maintenance Work Management Planners and Schedulers. This position manages a team of 8-10 Planners and Schedulers. This position has overall responsibility for the success of Construction and Maintenance work planning, resource planning, resource analysis and scheduling functions for the assigned Transmission Maintenance Area. This leader is accountable for planning and scheduling of the assigned routine work (typically preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, routine capital, capital failures). This leader is also responsible for resource management, resource planning and forecasting, and resource scheduling for their assigned crews (including line, substation, relay). Leader is responsible for the cost effective and productive use of all resources, including company and contractor crews, vehicles, equipment, tools and materials. The incumbent is responsible to account for variances to work plan and schedule completion, budgets, and resource plans, provide variance explanations and options to reconcile variances to management. This position directs development and implementation of the Construction or Maintenance Work Plans and associated Labor Resource Plans. In addition, he/she continually adjusts these plans to align with capital and/or O&M budget requirements, while completing the highest priority work. This position is responsible for monitoring Construction and Maintenance costs associated with resource types and develops and communicates recommendations for savings and process improvements for Transmission C&M. This position also plays a role in supporting storm restoration plans for both major and minor storms. This position is also responsible for developing short- and long-term Construction and Maintenance strategy, forecasting and communicating resource needs, developing, and implementing work plans, quantifying work plan variances, and oversight of assigned KPls. This leader will need to collaborate with other organization leaders and managers internal and external to Duke Energy in order to ensure that all work (the work managed by their team as well as that work managed by Project Management) within their assigned geographic area is effectively coordinated and executed. This leader is also the Single Point of Contact for their area for Transmission coordination of work with the Regulated and Renewable Energy (REE) organization. Those organizations include, but are not limited to, transmission and substation engineering, control systems technicians group, substation maintenance, substation construction, transmission line construction and maintenance, internal and external generation facilities, system operations, Duke Energy control center, independent system operators, project management, project controls, planning, foreign utilities, distribution operations, distribution grid management, construction management, right of way, environmental, material specialists, vegetation management, work management in other areas, project development team, local governments, sourcing, compliance, data management, asset management, customer relations, transmission planning, distribution planning, telecom, technical support. This position is responsible for adhering to organization work standards and process for all aspects of their assigned responsibilities (examples: planning, scheduling, work order management, compliance activities, clearance requests/switching and tagging, etc.) The position is also responsible for developing and performance managing direct reports in the areas of employee development and planning and scheduling skills (work plans, budgets, resource analysis, and safety performance). Responsibilities Leads Area Construction & Maintenance Work Management organization to improve workflow efficiency through optimal alignment of resources and work plans, without compromising safety and quality. Provide effective management, leadership, and guidance for Duke Energy and contingent workers in the C&M Maintenance Area to maintain an effective and motivated work force. This includes obtaining feedback and input from internal customers, providing on-going coaching and feedback, conducting performance reviews, monitoring work requirements, maintaining positive employee relations, identifying training needs, and providing training opportunities and resources. Management duties include recruitment, development, coaching, and training of team members and for other subject matter experts to ensure successful development of individuals. This position has overall responsibility for the success of capital and O&M work planning, resource planning, , resource analysis and scheduling functions for their assigned Area. Provide leadership for the Construction and Maintenance Planning and Scheduling for their assigned Area. Collaborate with Asset Management, Resource & Project Management, Construction Management, Work Coordination, and others as necessary to develop annual work plans and resource plans. Lead the development and execution of the work plan through prioritization, planning, scheduling, and coordination of internal and external resources. The implementation of this plan includes the coordination of plan changes with all affected stakeholders for acceptance and modification of work plan, resource plan and financial plans. Additional operational duties include contributing to the development of the work planning process, and communication of program and project status. This position has the responsibility to manage the performance of the Work Management Team. Manage, monitor and evaluate the performance of their team. Identify deficiencies and initiate appropriate actions to effectively address any performance that is not meeting expectations. Recognize and reward strong performance. Ensure employees have individual development plans for their growth and improvement, and to support their career development objectives. Implement Continuous Business Improvement. Provide direction and oversight of the processes for planning and scheduling for assigned area. Interface with peers and stakeholders to create a continuous learning culture by capturing lessons learned and identifying improvement opportunities for resource planning and scheduling processes. Collaborate with Process Owners and address process related issues; produce KPIs and goals to improve planning and scheduling performance metrics to increase efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction. Serve as a model of leadership for change. Develop and own improvement plans. Collaborate with C&M and RPM Peer teams across areas and/or jurisdictions to ensure consistent application of process improvements. Support and adhere to appropriate planning and scheduling policies and procedures, set direction, and address emergent issues. Required/Basic Qualifications Associates degree in Business or Associates degree in Information Technology or Associates degree in Other Related Degree 7 plus years related work experience In lieu of Associates degree(s) AND 7 plus year(s) related work experience listed above, 9 plus year(s) related work experience. Desired Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Additional Preferred Qualifications Preferred candidate should have extensive knowledge of Transmission programs, procedures and operations, systems & processes, and knowledge of jurisdictional rules and regulations, especially as related to the Resource & Work Management, Construction & Maintenance Process and Contractor Management. Bachelor (4 year) degree (preferred engineering or business) Possesses previous supervisory experience Working Conditions Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period.
