The LeFrak Center at Lakeside is Brooklyn’s activity destination featuring year-round activities including ice skating, roller skating, bumper cars, dining, water play, biking, boating, family-friendly classes and special events.

    The Special Event Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the planning, organization, execution, and on-site management of birthday parties, corporate parties, group reservations, rink rentals, and other hospitality events. This dynamic, important role in the company serves as a primary point of contact to our diverse set of clients and partners, so attention to detail, communication, organizational skills in a fast-paced environment, a knack for working with teams, ability to multitask, and an energetic attitude are all essential qualities to possess. Time management and the ability to work well under pressure with a high level of creativity and positivity are required.

    Duties & responsibilities:

    • Manage and respond to incoming event inquiries at Lakeside
    • Assist in 360-degree event coverage: field inquiry, close event, negotiate and create contracts, manage calendar, relay event information to on-site staff, and execute event on-site as needed/requested
    • Follow up with clients after completion of event
    • Work in tandem with executive management to achieve sales forecasts
    • Attend Event Planner Networking Events and other industry gatherings individually or with a members of the event and/or hospitality department.
    • Maintain and develop a database of contacts
    • Work with the marketing department, the creative team and events team to develop social media promotions and printed marketing collateral
    • Research and outreach to publications, and advertising platforms that will generate leads (minimum of 15 cold calls and outreach per week required)
    • Develop new relationships with outside vendors and event planners
    • Work with events staff and on-site management in execution of all events
    • Attend walk-through with client
    • Assist with managing on-site production and clean-up for events as necessary
    • Communicate with on-site management and staff
    • Obtain signed contracts from clients and track all event documentation including payments
    • Assist with event bookings and obtain menu for all food and beverage
    • Create BEOs, Floor Plans, Run of Shows, and Rundowns as needed

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • 5 years experience coordinating special events within food and beverage industry
    • Great interpersonal skills, customer service oriented, professional, attentive, and cheerful
    • Responsive and proactive follow-through and follow-up
    • Financially minded: understand and control event costs
    • Ability to think creatively and provide innovative solutions
    • Interest in hospitality and event production industries
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments
    • Communicate effectively and professionally with clients and prospects
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • People management, teamwork, and ability to defuse potentially volatile situations with staff and customers under high-stress environments
    • Develop and consistently strengthen relationships to leverage future potential repeat business
    • Strong relationship skills with ability to influence without direct authority
    • Exceptional consultative phone and face-to-face selling skills, including the ability to clearly articulate, inspire, project confidence, influence, overcome objections, and remain resilient but positive and polite
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
    • Self-motivated entrepreneurial spirit looking to take initiative
    • Ability to lift up to 40lbs
    • Ability to work on weekends and nights as needed with primary schedule being Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday

    Pay: Up to $60,000.00 per year
