Marketing Events Manager

  • Position Summary: The Marketing Event Manager (MEM) oversees the events marketing operations for John I. Haas. The MEM project manages the entire event process. The MEM plans, runs, collects feedback during and post-event for continuous improvement, manages temporary event support staff, consults with other marketing and sales staff including the VP Sales and Marketing, negotiates and executes contracts for all events. The MEM also coordinates and manages the purchasing, shipping, receiving, inventory, distribution of marketing materials including the process for branded merchandise selection and procurement. Maintains and communicates the Haas Brand Management Guide throughout the company.

    Primary Responsibilities: (Must consider: 1) knowledge required; 2) problem solving; and 3) accountability. Note: only “other duties as assigned” at 5%; other categories should represent how employee spends majority of their time; group “like items”.)

    85% 1. Event Coordinator:

    • Work closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams to understand event objectives, requirements, and timelines.
    • Ensure events are in line with the company's overall marketing strategy and attract the target audience.
    • Recommend, develop, and implement effective marketing plans for generating event revenues and returns
    • Manages the complete process of an event including planning stage, setup, running the actual event itself, take down, event material management and the post-event evaluation to measure success, gather feedback, and identify areas for improvement; this may also include registration, attendee management, troubleshooting, logistics, venue selection, catering, IT support, accommodations, etc.
    • Assemble creative and innovative event attractions based on internal capabilities or outsource to qualified vendors
    • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to negotiate contracts, secure services, and ensure timely delivery within budget constraints; this includes processing or facilitation of invoices and payments
    • Create and maintain detailed event timelines, production schedules, and task lists to track progress and ensure deadlines are met.
    • Collaborate with marketing and design teams to develop event collateral, promotional materials, and digital assets.
    • Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to enhance event experiences and drive innovation.
    • Ensuring that events comply with insurance, health and safety standards

    10% 2. Team Support:

    • Help maintain CRM database
    • Coordinate large meetings and groups (for example, during harvest) including catering, logistics, and sometimes travel arrangements
    • Conduct data gathering and prepare summary reports on questionnaires, market trends, products, industry, etc. as needed
    • Work in collaboration with other Haas and BarthHaas marketing staff, business development, and portfolio product managers

    5% 3. Other duties as assigned.

    Conditions of Employment:

    • Must comply with all John I. Haas, Inc. policies and procedures, including successful passing of pre-employment background check and drug test.
    • Must comply with our Integrated Management System (IMS) and be trained on procedures applicable to the requirements of the position, including managing significant quality, environmental, and food safety aspects.
    • Regular hours are M-F, 8-5 with a one-hour lunch, or as agreed to with supervisor. Some events will require travel and occur on nights and weekends, outside of those hours. This position is not eligible for overtime pay.
    • This is a physical job that requires frequent mobility such as lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, and more in order to “set up and break down” events.

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, hospitality management or a related field OR in lieu of a degree, extensive experience coordinating large, successful events with budget responsibility and oversight
    • Strong project management skills, including experience successfully prioritizing tasks and managing multiple, detail-oriented projects simultaneously
    • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, including experience creatively solving problems and navigating unexpected challenges and changes during events
    • Experience in a customer service or customer experience focused role, with a commitment to exceeding customer expectations
    • Exposure to key metrics for tracking and improving performance and ROI of events
    • Proficient in Microsoft 365, including PowerPoint

    Preferred:

    • Proficient in event management software and/or other relevant tools for project planning and organization
    • Experience in the hop or brewing industries
    • Experience collaborating with business development and product portfolio managers

    Pay: $61,760.00 to $92,640.00 per year with a target starting salary of $61,760.00 to $77,200. Please keep in mind this range represents the range for all positions in the pay grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including experience and if applicable, location.
