Special Investigations Unit Director oversees the operations for conducting thorough investigations. Develops the strategies for the cross-functional detection and elimination of fraudulent behavior. Being a Special Investigations Unit Director prepares investigative reports and analyses that pertinent to evidence obtained during investigations. May coordinate with outside sources such as law enforcement agencies, and external audit, etc. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Special Investigations Unit Director typically reports to top management. The Special Investigations Unit Director manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Special Investigations Unit Director typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Job Description:
    Responsible for overseeing security strategy and execution in area facilities. Supervises security personnel in area sites and is the security consultant for site leaders. Works in an actively collaborative manner fostering close working relationships with Essentia Health facilities and departments. Manages security budget and planning. Responsible for coordinating the development, implementation, and monitoring of all Security Management Plan activities. Provides guidance, as requested, to system facilities, such as clinics and other hospitals.

    Education Qualifications:

    Qualifications:

    Bachelors degree with a preference in criminal justice, psychology, related field.

    Work Experience:
    5 years of experience in a security role, to include in-depth technical and state of the art knowledge of the various disciplines encountered with a security program in its daily operation (e.g. de-escalation, training, alarm systems, security officer operation, video, radio communications). 

    Strong customer service orientation (versus reactive enforcement orientation) to meet and exceed customer expectations.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in areas of political science, security studies, applied intelligence, business and/or public administration, security management, or a related field of study preferred.

    Healthcare security experience.

    Project management, development and implementation experience.

    Full-time experience as a licensed law enforcement officer, assigned to the duty of field investigations, auditing, or in a major operational area within a criminal justice agency.

    Violence Prevention Training and Awareness experience.

    Experience in researching, developing, and facilitating training to adult learners.

    Knowledge of security best practices, and security standards. Ability to convey salient information accurately and concisely.


    Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

    Professional Certified Investigator through ASIS preferred.

    Certified Threat Manager through ATAP preferred.
