    General Description

    Under the direction of the Dean, Career Technical Education (CTE), the Director of CTE Special Projects and Grants will coordinate and provide leadership for the successful operation of local, state, and federal programs and grants in the broad area of CTE/Workforce Development to include Strong Workforce, K16 Strong Workforce, and other Federal or State Grants. The Director of CTE Special Projects and Grants will collaborate with local middle and high school districts, County Offices of Education as well as colleges and universities to enhance services related to CTE programs and will oversee grant implementation to ensure compliance with federal, state, grant guidelines. This position is categorically funded.

    Job Duties

    Grants and Grant Management
    • Manage and monitor assigned grants, prepare reports and ensure compliance with federal and state requirements.
    • Prepare and administer grant budgets; prepare budget reports and summaries on service and activities of assigned grant; request grant payments as timely as necessary to minimize account balances.
    • Collaborate with faculty and administrators to implement established grant work plans to ensure grants objectives and timelines are met.
    • Conduct special projects and events related to completion of grants objectives and work plans.
    • Seek and secure funding sources; write grants proposals.


    Partnership & Pathway Development
    • Conduct special projects and activities that support alignment through communication and relationship building with high school and middle school partners.
    • Establish working relationships with high schools to create stronger transition opportunities for students in the pathways related to agriculture, manufacturing/engineering and related CTE pathways.
    • Create transition experiences with students that are in selected pathways such as agriculture, engineering, manufacturing, and industry/technology.
    • Work with high school partners to align programs with COS CTE programs.
    • Conduct and facilitate career development workshops and employer engagement opportunities for current COS students and high school students working closely with District and high school faculty in coordinating such efforts.
    • Work jointly with Regional Employer Engagement Specialist and local schools on regional (Tulare/Kings) efforts for CTE pathways.
    • Work with the Deans and Regional Employer Engagement Specialist to coordinate and improve employer connections including CTE Advisory groups.
    • Assist in setting up and attending CTE Advisory meetings.
    • Represent the District in the Sequoias Regional Consortium activities and related activities such as Linked Learning, CTE Pathways, and Innovate Tulare/Kings.
    • Implement activities that promote alignment between high school and college programs in cooperation with partner groups.
    • Provide support to local partners in the development of model Career Technical Education sequences of courses and work with secondary and postsecondary faculty to promote program alignment.
    • Work with CTE/COS faculty and staff to create clear pathway documentation in a variety of formats (ex. graphically representation, improved websites) to show the available pathways, degrees, certificates and programs available to students.

    General Management
    • Supervise, train and evaluate assigned personnel.
    • Represent the District at local statewide events; serve on District committees as assigned.
    • Utilize the District's integrated software in performing the required duties of the position.
    • Assume other duties normally associated with management.


    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience):

    Any combination equivalent to:
    • Master's degree in areas related to the position from an accredited college or university and three years of experience in related areas such as Career Technical Education, grant administration, outreach or enrollment management.
    • A sensitivity to and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

    Desirable Qualifications:
    • Experience at the community college level.
    • Experience and/or familiarity with the Career Technical Education programs.


    Licenses and Other Requirements:
    • Valid California driver's license
    • Experience and/or familiarity with the Career Technical Education programs. An incumbent must be insurable at the "standard rate" by the employer's insurance carrier at all times while employed in this classification by the College of the Sequoias.
