ABOUT BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF TRACY The Boys & Girls Clubs of Tracy’s mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. For the past 29 years the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tracy has been consistently enriching Tracy's youth and the community's future through the provision of quality after-school programming to Tracy's young people. Its annual budget is $4.4 million and the organization is growing to 18 fully operational sites, strategically located throughout the city, serving over 2200 youth daily.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position is for our Tracy, CA area clubs located at various Tracy and Jefferson Unified School District - School Site facilities. Under the general direction of the Director of Operations or the Area Director, the Unit Director manages overall daily operations of a unit under the control of the organization with the primary concern for a comprehensive, outcome-driven program and service delivery. Also supervises and trains staff (direct and indirect reports), handles personnel issues, manages facility, develops and manages a budget, actively engages and supports a Unit Advisory Council, and manages community relations, volunteers, and membership administration.
KEY ROLES
Leadership
Establish Unit or Branch programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success and create an outcome-driven Club experience that facilitates achievement of youth development outcomes.
Strategic Planning
Plan, develop, implement and evaluate Unit overall programs, services and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives and member needs and interests. Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation.
Resource Management
Manage Unit financial resources, assisting in the development of annual budgets. Control expenditures against budget.
Ensure administrative and operational systems are in place to maintain the operation of the Club’s physical properties and equipment, including use of facilities by outside groups. Ensure compliance with organization policies.
Recruit, manage and provide career development opportunities for unit staff and volunteers. Conduct regular staff meetings.
Partnership Development
Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders and organizations.
Marketing and Public Relations
Develop and maintain public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services and activities within the Club and the community.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Attend evening meetings and occasional conferences and trainings which may require limited travel.
May be required drive Club vehicle or use personal vehicle in course of employment
Purchase or approve purchase of supplies and equipment.
Work with staff on special events to carry out programs in all departments.
Exercise authority in problems relating to members; utilize guidance and discipline plan.
Assume other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
Ability to establish programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success, and create a club environment that facilitates achievement of Youth Development outcomes.
Ability to recruit, retain and supervise key personnel; manage facilities; effectively manage members and staff in handling problems and issues in a professional manner.
Ability to maintain proper record keeping of staff and member files; manage the administrative functions of all program areas and assigned resources, and complete the functions in a timely and comprehensive manner.
Ability to get along with diverse personalities at all times displaying tact, maturity and flexibility; Possess strong communication skills, both oral and written with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with youth, parents and community leaders; Apply working knowledge in budget preparation, fiscal control and management, and fund-raising endeavors; Ability to exercise good reasoning and sound judgment; Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
CPR and First Aid Certifications; pass TB test, annual background screen and fingerprinting; Must provide verification of authorization to work in the United States.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A.A. Degree or have earned 48 general credits from an accredited college or obtained a paraprofessional certificate issued by a Unified School District required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Three (3) years of experience working in a non-profit agency, Boys & Girls Club or similar organization responsible for the management and supervision of a unit, section or division which include planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating supplemental education programs for youth ages 4-18 in a recreational and developmental environment.
Possess organizational and leadership attributes to administer and promote programs of the Boys & Girls Club.
Possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License and receive approval by the Club's auto insurance provider.
Possess an equivalent combination of experience and training.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work in a high energy-level environment; able to comfortably perform multi-faceted projects when implementing phases of program activities in a productive, focused, tactful and flexible manner.
Able to effectively interact with staff and participate in implementation of Club programs; Must wear mandatory Boys & Girls Club staff shirts and badges during Club operating hours and all Club outings where members are present, supplied by the Director of Operations.
Work in an indoor and outdoor Club setting; May require working varying schedules, including night and weekend hours; Ability to supervise staff and club members for prolonged periods of time; May require some heavy lifting (20lb-50lb ); May on occasion work in inclement weather; COVID-19 Considerations: Must be willing & able to adhere to COVID Safety Protocols including wearing masks when deemed appropriate.
