  • Arbin Instruments is seeking a full-time Technical Writer to join our sales and marketing department. Reporting to the Europe/US Sales Manager, the Technical Writer will collect and organize information to create helpful content for internal and external audiences. This role will require exceptional written communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics briefly and precisely. As Arbin’s Technical Writer, your objective will be to compose, update, and optimize various technical documents to clarify the value and benefits of Arbin’s battery testing solutions.

    Along with writing content for a highly technical industry and organization, the Technical Writer will be involved in developing Arbin’s documentation strategies and practices. Through communication with engineers, developers, support, and customers, you will help identify information gaps in individual documents and our content library. The Technical Writer will also use keen attention to detail to build consistency into our content by implementing standard practices and a style guide.

    Primary Responsibilities:
    • Create straightforward, useful content for audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge.
    • Gather and organize technical information through research and subject-matter experts (SMEs).
    • Draft and edit technical content, including white papers, application notes, and manuals.
    • Evaluate and develop the technical documentation process and identify technical content needs.
    Job Responsibilities:

    Information Gathering:
    • Develop a thorough understanding of the energy storage industry, and especially Arbin’s hardware, software, and data products.
    • Work closely with engineering, software, and support teams to gather product information.
    • Research and communicate with external SMEs as required for specific content needs.
    • Assist in the organization and cataloging of collected information, including information for product releases.
    Technical Writing, Editing, and Structure:
    • Explain complex information accurately and concisely for technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Outline and draft white papers, app notes, and technical content from engineering documents.
    • Edit and format instructional materials, including software manuals and technical guides.
    • Assist with layout and structure of technical content, marketing materials, and other documents.
    • Identify appropriate illustrations, graphics, and photographs to increase usability of technical content.
    • Review, update, and optimize existing technical documents for content, structure, and accuracy.
    Documentation Strategy & Other Responsibilities:
    • Evaluate internal and external technical documents to identify and address content gaps.
    • Collect user data and perform user experience testing to optimize technical content.
    • Assist in the development of standardized documentation practices and a technical style guide.
    • Review and recommend documentation/digital asset management solutions to optimize documentation practices.
    • Participate in the creation and consistency of other documentation to support marketing objectives.
    Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, engineering, or related field.
    • 2-3 years of experience in technical writing.
    • Background in electronics is a plus, but technical writing ability is the top priority.
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Exceptional written communication skills to create clear and concise content.
    • In-depth understanding of technical writing and editing best practices.
    • Ability to understand, explain, and contextualize technical specifications and features.
    • Experience composing technical documents such as white papers and manuals.
    • Working knowledge of document design software such as InDesign and Microsoft Publisher.
    • Understanding of instructional design principles and best practices.
    • Familiarity with content authoring software such as MadCap, RoboHelp, and Wikis.
    • Strong attention to detail, especially in technical accuracy, grammar, and content clarity.
