Speech and Language Pathologist assesses and treats speech and language disorders and impairments. Conducts evaluations of an individual's speech and language skills using applicable diagnostic materials and tools. Being a Speech and Language Pathologist develops treatment plans that utilize appropriate intervention approaches, strategies, and materials. Establishes treatment priorities that include advising, educating, and counseling. Additionally, Speech and Language Pathologist completes required documentation to record assessment and progress. Collaborates with physicians, family members, and other clinical providers to provide effective therapies. May direct support staff in assisting with treatment. Requires a master's degree in speech pathology. Requires Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). Requires State License based on Clinical Specialty. Typically reports to a manager. Speech and Language Pathologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Performs speech/language therapy assessment procedures utilizing techniques consistent with the patient's diagnosis. Develops individualized treatment plan based on evaluation findings
Provides detailed and concise documentation of evaluation, treatment, interim reports, and discharge evaluations within departmental timelines. Provides all necessary documentation required for on-going patient care.
Participates in mentoring and training of clinical support staff, new professional staff, and students/volunteers in the aspects of patient care.
Participates in the development and implementation of departmental performance improvement
Participates in the development and implementation of clinical program development.
Responsible for completing basic speech/language therapy competencies in addition to departmental specific competencies
Utilizes support staff and resources as per general guidance of departmental guidelines.
Communicates and listens effectively with internal and external customers; effectively understands instructions and shares knowledge.
Cooperates and interacts with supervisors, peers, other departments, and all customer groups demonstrating our commitment to "service".
