Speech and Language Pathologist assesses and treats speech and language disorders and impairments. Conducts evaluations of an individual's speech and language skills using applicable diagnostic materials and tools. Being a Speech and Language Pathologist develops treatment plans that utilize appropriate intervention approaches, strategies, and materials. Establishes treatment priorities that include advising, educating, and counseling. Additionally, Speech and Language Pathologist completes required documentation to record assessment and progress. Collaborates with physicians, family members, and other clinical providers to provide effective therapies. May direct support staff in assisting with treatment. Requires a master's degree in speech pathology. Requires Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). Requires State License based on Clinical Specialty. Typically reports to a manager. Speech and Language Pathologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.   • Speech Language Pathologist: 212 days, 7.5 hours per day, 5 days a week. Reporting to: Principal Number of Openings: 1 full-time position Location: Tyngsboro, MA Starting: ASAP Valley Collaborative is a Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education approved public school entity. We provide high quality academic, therapeutic and vocational services to individuals referred by local school districts and social service agencies. We also provide ongoing professional development and training experiences for educators and educational agencies. Recognizing that the educational environment rapidly changes, Valley Collaborative creates, adapts, and provides flexible programming to address evolving needs. We provide an environment within which students and others can maximize educational and/or occupational skills. By sharing its resources with multiple school districts and social service agencies, its programs maintain superior quality and reasonable costs to those it serves, by meeting or exceeding state standards, and achieving economies of scale. Essential Functions of the Job: The list of duties and responsibilities are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. Additionally, this essential team member must demonstrate a positive and caring attitude and must remain flexible and adaptable in order to meet department needs. Speech Language Pathologist Responsibilities: • Evaluates students and develops goals and objectives as part of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) Team • Implements treatment plans • Delivers services using the integrated therapy model • Consults with students’ classroom staff and caregivers, when necessary • Attends IEP meetings and other student meetings as needed • Collects data on student progress, writes evaluations and quarterly progress reports. • Attends all staff meetings, weekly team meetings for each classroom, and training deemed appropriate by principal • Opportunity to supervise fellow therapists during Clinical Fellowship Year • Travel between local schools and vocational sites is required with Collaborative vehicles. Qualifications: • Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology • Licensed in Massachusetts as a Speech Language Pathologist • Experience with emotional disabilities • Experience providing therapy to students with a wide range of disabilities • Flexibility to meet identified student needs • A strong commitment to the goals, mission, and philosophy of the organization • Valid Driver's License Physical Demands: • Constant standing or walking. • Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds. • Bends, reaches, lifts, carries, twists, pushes, pulls, and handles equipment when performing duties. • Able to reach and operate equipment and systems safely and effectively. Other Competencies (skills, abilities, behavior): Ability to understand and follow both written and oral instructions. Adaptability to perform routine, repetitive tasks within a specific period of time. Prioritizes work assignments to be completed within time requirements. Must demonstrate a positive and caring attitude toward students, clients, and staff. Must remain flexible and adaptable in order to meet department needs.
