Speech and Language Pathologist jobs in New Bedford, MA

Speech and Language Pathologist assesses and treats speech and language disorders and impairments. Conducts evaluations of an individual's speech and language skills using applicable diagnostic materials and tools. Being a Speech and Language Pathologist develops treatment plans that utilize appropriate intervention approaches, strategies, and materials. Establishes treatment priorities that include advising, educating, and counseling. Additionally, Speech and Language Pathologist completes required documentation to record assessment and progress. Collaborates with physicians, family members, and other clinical providers to provide effective therapies. May direct support staff in assisting with treatment. Requires a master's degree in speech pathology. Requires Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). Requires State License based on Clinical Specialty. Typically reports to a manager. Speech and Language Pathologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     As a pediatric speech-language pathologist, you'll help children and teens with swallowing, speaking, understanding and other speech-related tasks they need to function. Working in a pediatric hospital, outpatient center, private practice or other healthcare environment, you'll review medical histories, develop and implement speech therapy treatment plans, recommend equipment, monitor patient progress and more. You'll play a critical role in helping young patients who are ill, injured or disabled regain independence and quality of life.

    Minimum Requirements

    • At least 1 year of recent experience as a speech language pathologist in a pediatric setting
    • Degree in relevant field
    • BLS Certification (AHA)
    • Current state license
