Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home jobs in Boston, MA
Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home assesses and treats speech and language disorders and impairments in a nursing home or long term care setting. Conducts patient evaluation of speech and language skills using applicable diagnostic materials and tools. Being a Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home develops treatment plans that utilize appropriate intervention approaches, strategies, and materials. Establishes treatment priorities that include advising, educating and counseling the patient. Additionally, Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home documents assessment and patient progress. Collaborates with physicians, family members, and other clinical providers. May direct support staff in assisting with treatment. Ensures that treatment aligns with patient needs and is within the parameters set by the payer. Requires a master's degree in speech pathology or equivalent. Requires Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) and may require a state license. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. - Create and implement personalized treatment plans
- Provide therapy sessions to improve speech and language skills
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive care plans
- Educate patients and their families on effective communication strategies
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation of patient progress
- A master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Valid state licensure or certification as a speech-language pathologist
- Prior experience in diagnosing and treating individuals with communication and swallowing disorders
- Knowledge of assessment and diagnostic techniques
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Proficiency in utilizing specialized software and technology related to speech-language pathology
This position runs until the end of the 2023-2024 school year. Benefits are unfortunately not included with this position.
