Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home jobs in Frankfort, KY

Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home assesses and treats speech and language disorders and impairments in a nursing home or long term care setting. Conducts patient evaluation of speech and language skills using applicable diagnostic materials and tools. Being a Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home develops treatment plans that utilize appropriate intervention approaches, strategies, and materials. Establishes treatment priorities that include advising, educating and counseling the patient. Additionally, Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home documents assessment and patient progress. Collaborates with physicians, family members, and other clinical providers. May direct support staff in assisting with treatment. Ensures that treatment aligns with patient needs and is within the parameters set by the payer. Requires a master's degree in speech pathology or equivalent. Requires Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) and may require a state license. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement.     Provide speech-language treatment and patient care according to hospital, state and federal regulations and professional guidelines.
    Delegate tasks and supervise fellows, technicians and assistants.

    Credentials:
    Current state licensure or certification on or before the first day of employment required.
    CPR certification preferred unless otherwise required by hospital policy essential.
    Successful completion of an accredited master's degree program or an accredited bachelor's degree program plus sufficient experience in the field a must.
    Demonstrated competence in speech-language pathology evaluation, assessment, care planning and treatment required.
    Effective communication skills for working with patients, families and caregivers required.
