Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home assesses and treats speech and language disorders and impairments in a nursing home or long term care setting. Conducts patient evaluation of speech and language skills using applicable diagnostic materials and tools. Being a Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home develops treatment plans that utilize appropriate intervention approaches, strategies, and materials. Establishes treatment priorities that include advising, educating and counseling the patient. Additionally, Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home documents assessment and patient progress. Collaborates with physicians, family members, and other clinical providers. May direct support staff in assisting with treatment. Ensures that treatment aligns with patient needs and is within the parameters set by the payer. Requires a master's degree in speech pathology or equivalent. Requires Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) and may require a state license. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Qualifications:
Graduate of an approved curriculum in Speech Language Pathology, is able to practice unencumbered, is in good standing with all regulatory agencies and licensing boards, has working knowledge of Medicare and other payer sources, full knowledge of residents rights, exudes professionalism in presentation and able to work on multitasks at the same time. In, addition, qualified candidates must have proven success in providing extraordinary care, working as a proactive and contributing part of a dynamic team.
