Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home assesses and treats speech and language disorders and impairments in a nursing home or long term care setting. Conducts patient evaluation of speech and language skills using applicable diagnostic materials and tools. Being a Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home develops treatment plans that utilize appropriate intervention approaches, strategies, and materials. Establishes treatment priorities that include advising, educating and counseling the patient. Additionally, Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home documents assessment and patient progress. Collaborates with physicians, family members, and other clinical providers. May direct support staff in assisting with treatment. Ensures that treatment aligns with patient needs and is within the parameters set by the payer. Requires a master's degree in speech pathology or equivalent. Requires Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) and may require a state license. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. Pay Range: $65,000 - $150,000
Job Description:A Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will implement treatment programs to assist pediatric patients with cognitive, speech, language, feeding/swallowing and/or social/emotional disabilities and delays by planning and administering speech therapy services in the home and community.Responsibilities:- Provides high quality care and meets the needs of the patient and family by performing evaluations and interpreting assessment results; developing goals appropriate to child; creating and implementing speech therapy treatment plans in conjunction with the physician.
- Assists pediatric patients to develop or regain cognitive, speech, language, feeding/swallowing and/or social/emotional functioning and improves their level of independence by implementing skilled interventions to maximize the potential of each individual child.
- Participates in educating, coaching, and empowering caregivers and families to develop skills to carry over therapeutic activities into the child's daily routine.
- Coordinates with referral partners to provide services for children in accordance with the physician order.
- Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs.
- Documents patient care services and care coordination in an intuitive electronic medical record system.
- Maintains patient confidence by keeping information confidential.
Requirements:- ASHA certification

- Current CPR certification
- A minimum of 1 yr. of experience preferred
