Speech and Language Therapy Supervisor manages the daily operations of an organization's audiology and speech therapy functions. Plans and develops speech therapy programs and evaluates program objectives and results to determine effectiveness. Being an Speech and Language Therapy Supervisor reviews assessment findings, treatment plans, and progress notes to ensure compliance with professional standards and regulations. Monitors inventories and supplies and tracks spending to ensure adherence to departmental budgets. Additionally, Speech and Language Therapy Supervisor implements operational procedures to ensure effective care, promote best practices, and facilitate efficient workflow. Provides professional guidance and oversight to resolve complex cases or issues. Recruits, hires, and manages staff and designs and leads development and training activities. May require a master's degree in audiology or speech pathology. Requires State License based on Clinical Specialty. Typically reports to a director. The Speech and Language Therapy Supervisor manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Speech and Language Therapy Supervisor typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Description

    Are you looking to supplement your current job or pick up a flexible SLP position? Buffalo Hearing & Speech is currently hiring Fee for Service (paid per session) Speech Language Pathologists in our clinic. Create your own schedule - choose when and how many cases you will see! The SLP is responsible for conducting therapy sessions and/or evaluations for children and/or adults.

     

    Flexible hours between 8am-6pm, evenings 3-6pm especially needed Monday - Thursday. Earn a rate of $53/hour in our speech clinic ($26.50 per 30 minute session)!  

     

    BHSC also offers a free continuing education series to employees and our FFS employees are eligible to accrue paid sick leave. 

     

    Job Summary:

    The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and recommendation for therapeutic intervention for young children and adults with communication disorders. In addition, responsibilities include the implementation of an appropriate Speech-Language Pathology treatment program designed to habilitate or rehabilitate the communicatively impaired child or adult

     

    Essential Functions:

    • Display competence in the area of speech-language impairment (either licensed or under the careful direction & supervision of a licensed SLP). Determines type and severity of speech-language impairment, under careful supervision if unlicensed SLP. Determines prognosis and appropriate treatment for speech-language impairments.
    • Evaluation, diagnosis, and recommendation for therapeutic intervention for individuals with communication disorders. Working collaboratively with other professionals such as the classroom teacher, other SLPs, OTs, PTs, Audiologists, supervisors and other as appropriate.
    • Implementation of an appropriate Speech-Language Pathology treatment program
    • Submits written reports of the evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, and discharge reports as appropriate. Maintain paperwork within legal and agency guidelines. Ensures paperwork is completed in a timely and organized fashion
    • Makes appropriate referrals as needed in order to affect positive therapeutic results
    • Communicates regularly with family/client
    • Exhibit professional judgment, maturity, and upgrades professional knowledge through involvement in continuing education programs. Participate in the delivery of and/or attend in-service programs. Participate in formal staff training. Maintain SLP licensure and TSSLD certification
    • Licensed Speech Pathologists are required to supervise CFYs appropriately, ensuring legal guidelines and agency policies are precisely followed
    • Any other duties as requested by your supervisor

     

     

    Skills:

    • Display all SLP behavioral competencies
    • Ability to influence a group in to completing a common goal
    • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

     

    Required Education Requirements:

    Master’s degree from University/College of accredited speech language pathology program

     

    Required License/Registration/ Certification:

    • New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist 
    • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA)

     

    Physical Requirements:

    • Physical actions may include, but are not limited to; bending, kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, printing, crawling, and running.
    • Vision, speech, tactical and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.
    • Frequent sitting/ standing and when appropriate, floor sitting with pediatric patients.
