Speech and Language Therapy Supervisor manages the daily operations of an organization's audiology and speech therapy functions. Plans and develops speech therapy programs and evaluates program objectives and results to determine effectiveness. Being an Speech and Language Therapy Supervisor reviews assessment findings, treatment plans, and progress notes to ensure compliance with professional standards and regulations. Monitors inventories and supplies and tracks spending to ensure adherence to departmental budgets. Additionally, Speech and Language Therapy Supervisor implements operational procedures to ensure effective care, promote best practices, and facilitate efficient workflow. Provides professional guidance and oversight to resolve complex cases or issues. Recruits, hires, and manages staff and designs and leads development and training activities. Duties:
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of registered nurses or licensed practical nurses
- Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and feeding
- Take and record vital signs, such as blood pressure and temperature
- Assist with medical procedures, such as gastric lavage and IV infusion
- Monitor patients and report any changes in condition to the nursing staff
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a nursing assistant training program and certification
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities is a plus
- Basic life support (BLS) certification
- Knowledge of medical office procedures and medical records management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Skills:
- Patient service: Ability to provide compassionate care and support to patients
- Acute care: Knowledge of acute care procedures and protocols
- Gastric lavage: Ability to perform gastric lavage under supervision
- IV infusion: Knowledge of IV infusion procedures and techniques
- Working with people with developmental disabilities: Experience in providing care for individuals with developmental disabilities
