Assistant Director of Aquaponic Programs
Position Summary
Working from the Capital Campus CCA Family Service Center, the Assistant Director of Aquaponic Programs will assist in providing leadership and general oversight for the activities and operations of AgWorks at CCA respective to: the development and continuous improvement of existing and new career-based opportunities, the expansion of agriculturally-based CCA programming, professional learning and staff development, and in developing relationships with Pennsylvania-based industries and employers. This individual will play a key role in ensuring that CCA offers rigorous, best- and next-level practices, to engage online and in-person learners with the best and most innovative workforce development tools in agriculture. The individual will collaborate with the director, school leaders, and departments to ensure programs and courses can be implemented with high fidelity. This individual will manage highly complex, interdepartmental projects and may involve contractors and collaborations with community members.
The Assistant Director of Aquaponic Programs will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Collaborate in the development and continuous improvement of existing and new learning programs that are focused on career pathways in agriculture
- Collaborate with all CCA stakeholders and partners to create, enhance, and implement in-person and virtual programs to provide exposure to various agricultural and environmental careers
- Collaborate with all CCA stakeholders in the coordination of career-ready activities for grade-level and department-level teacher leadership, including professional learning communities
- Identify and recommend new technologies and practices for continuous enhancement of the AgWorks at the Capital Campus CCA Family Service Center.
- Assist in budgeting for technology enhancements, learner programs, and facility maintenance
- Serve as a leader in the AgWorks department, coordinating with school leadership and staff and with third-party contractors in the development, revision, implementation, and continuous improvement of learner and staff SOPs that are implemented as best practices
- Assist in the development and review of AgWorks department goals to ensure a comprehensive, integrated program for learners, CCA families, professional staff, administrators, and support staff
- Collaborate with school leaders on programs that meet the needs of all learners
- Assist in monitoring and analyzing student engagement data and preparing reports related to state reporting requirements
- Assist in the provision of data and the preparation of accreditation, grant, and school improvement plans as applicable to careers and workforce development programming.
- Assist in the implementation of all board policies as directed by the President/CEO, Executive Vice Presidents, or other Senior Administrators.
- Keep informed on the latest research, trends, and developments in all areas of career readiness K-12 learners
- Work with CCA leadership, education professionals, and other school staff to set the direction and hold staff accountable to overall department goals and priorities as well as to ensure alignment of these goals with CCA’s mission and vision
- Serve as a key representative of CCA in external communications and outreach activities
- Serve as a leader with vision and strong work-ready insight
- Supervise and evaluate assigned personnel

Work Environment
This job involves the oversight of agricultural equipment including an indoor greenhouse. The employee will be working directly with staff and with students/staff/community members. They will be working with water, plants, fish, bio-controls, etc.
Physical Demands
This is a physical role, which requires the ability to lift, squat, sit, bend and stand for long periods of time. Ability to travel to other sites/locations as needed.

- Travel is required throughout Pennsylvania on an as-needed basis
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or comparable degree/certifications in a field of agriculture, plant or soil science, aquaculture, environmental science, biology, bio-systems or related field or a degree in agriculture education
- Five or more years’ experience in greenhouse, aquaponics, hydroponics or controlled agriculture environment setting
Preferred Education and Experience
- Background in education is beneficial
- Familiarity with aquaponics or hydroponics is beneficial
- Background in horticulture, horticultural therapy or related activities
- Basic facility or ground maintenance skills
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Valid PA Driver’s License
- Appropriate Automobile Insurance Coverage
