Our mission is to teach and enable responsible thinking by using the Truthought Corrective Thinking™ model, a therapy dog program, and through implementing these strategies with youth in our facility.     Currently hiring a School Monitor Corrections Counselor

    Job Summary:

    The School Monitor Corrections Counselor (main campus) is responsible supervision of residents at PLYP while they are in the Prairie Lakes on-site school and planning activities on non-school days. This includes recreation, and guided group interaction. Constant supervision and maintenance of security is required for the safety of both residents and community. This supervision includes meeting the physical, psychological, and emotional needs of the residents.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    · Be present where needed, ready to work to meet responsibilities, including recognizing when situations require more effort, putting in more time when needed, satisfying responsibilities in a timely manner, and providing an example of punctuality and attendance.

    · Maintain the safety and security of the building residents and staff as outlined by the policy and procedure manual, which includes the knowledge and implementation of the philosophy and policies of PLYP.

    · Effective communication with residents, co-workers, administration, parents and professionals. (Examples: Law enforcement, Probation Officers, Social Workers, Attorneys, Chemical Dependency Counselors, school and guardian ad litems)

    · Daily documentation in the daily resident logs and staff to staff report.

    · Facilitate groups on a daily basis.

    · Constant supervision of residents through their daily routines

    · Responsible to hold residents accountable to their weekly commitments, point loss, writing assignments related to Truthought, or disciplinary action.

    · Responsible for supervision and assistance of daily and weekly housekeeping duties, making sure all supplies are ordered and stocked.

    · Responsible for verification, distribution, and documentation on prescription and non-prescription medications.

    · Transport residents to school, appointments, community commitments, jobs, groups, school, and any other commitments that residents may have.

    · Assume the responsibility of being a mandated reporter by Minnesota State Law.

    · Responsible to assist in the training and orientation of new employees.

    · Assume other duties, responsibilities and projects identified as needed by the employee and approved and assigned by the Supervisor, Program Director, or Executive Director.

    · Possess a willingness to learn new skills or tasks as assigned.

    · Willingness to work other shifts on occasion as needed.

    · Lifting, moving and carrying 25-50 lbs. using proper techniques.

    · Ability to walk up and down stairs.

    · Ability to kneel or squat for long periods of time.

    · Bending, stretching, standing or sitting for long periods of time.

    · Ability to learn and use de-escalation and proper restraint procedures.

    Qualifications:

    Experience: At least 21 years old

    · Successfully complete required background check

    · Annual training as offered by PLYP

    · Valid Driver’s License and current proof of insurance

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: From $21.00 per hour
