Staff Nurse - RN - Flight Transport provides professional nursing care to critically injured or ill patients throughout all phases of emergency ground and air transportation. Evaluates and treats patients prior to and during transport, ensuring patient safety and implementing life support measures as needed. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Flight Transport monitors patient condition, documents nursing care, and reports patient status to clinical staff at receiving medical facility. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Flight Transport typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Typically requires Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. May require Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) certification. SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing emergency nursing care in a prompt and efficient manner to all patients transported via Mercy Health Life Flight Network. Responsible for assessing, planning, organizing, documenting, and evaluating patient care in conjunction with another Critical Care Transport Care provider. The Critical Care Transport Nurse acts as a professional representative of Bon Secours Mercy Health to the community, as an educator to professional groups, to emergency medical services and promotes Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center and Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center as regional referral centers. Assists in the provision of care to patients of all age groups (neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric). The Critical Care Transport Nurse will be hired in on a ground Mobile Intensive Care Unit base with a progression towards rotor wing flight cross training if interested and openings are available.
