The Lighthouse Care Center of Augusta is an acute and residential treatment facility providing balanced, top-notch clinical care to children, adolescents and young adults. We provide a carefully-structured and supportive environment, and our education program is accredited through the Georgia Accrediting Commission. Lighthouse Care Center is looking for a magnificent Infection Control/ Staff Educator Nurse (RN). This is a full time position.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Manages and provides required education to the entire staff
Responsible for employee health. Employee health encompasses administration and management of Hepatitis B vaccinations and PPD annual checks.
Requires expert knowledge of basic nursing skills (patient assessment, infection control, medication administration, etc.) and a desire to pass that knowledge on to others.
Works closely with Human Resources to provide new hire orientation.
Evaluates the educational needs to ensure on-going continuing education and adherence to applicable required in-service education for all staff.
Identifies, assesses, and implements in-service programs as needed regarding the satisfactory performance of clinical skills and knowledge.
Serves as Infection Control Nurse, plans, organizes, develops, coordinates, and directs our infection control program and its activities in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern such programs, and as may be directed by the Chief Executive Officer, Director of Nursing and the Infection Control Committee to ensure that an effective infection control program is maintained at all times.

Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Qualified candidates must have be a Licensed Registered Nurse within the State of Georgia and must possess a minimum of a Degree in Nursing, preferably a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Two-four years of experience as a nurse, and clinical training experience. Two years’ experience in mental health field preferred, but not required.
Skills:
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to identify and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Environmental Conditions:
Primarily works indoors in a climate controlled environment, within close proximity of other staff. Potential exposures to unpleasant odors, blood and other bodily fluids.
Physical Requirements:
Visual acuity is required to review and communication information from the patient medical record. Physical demands require daily walking, standing, and sitting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long period of times, verbally communicate with the employees, be attentive and able to listen effectively for any potential safety issue on the unit, walk, and occasionally sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must be able to assist with physically restraining a patient when necessary.
