Staff Nurse - RN - Infection Control performs hospital-wide surveillance and data collection as part of an overall infection-control program. Investigates possible incidences of infection and implements remedial action. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Infection Control works with the infection control committee to establish infection control standards and procedures, and educates staff on how to prevent and control infections. Informs the appropriate state and county organizations of any reportable infections and diseases. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Infection Control typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires a valid state RN license. May require CIC certification. Supports the Infection Prevention and Control manager in the development, training, and implementation of the campus Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Programs striving for One Best Practice across all KH Facilities. Serves as knowledge expert in IPC practice, processes, surveillance methodologies, products, equipment, policies, and regulatory and accreditation standards.

· Fast-paced; juggling and prioritizing multiple projects at one time with altered hours to meet job requirements from time to time
· Frequent review and utilization of computer systems to review electronic medical records and development of action plans; research on best practice, etc.
· Frequent support to hospital units and service areas where patient care is delivered to provide patient/family/staff education, surveillance, process reviews, performance improvement measures, etc.
