Staff Nurse - RN - Infection Control performs hospital-wide surveillance and data collection as part of an overall infection-control program. Investigates possible incidences of infection and implements remedial action. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Infection Control works with the infection control committee to establish infection control standards and procedures, and educates staff on how to prevent and control infections. Informs the appropriate state and county organizations of any reportable infections and diseases. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Infection Control typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires a valid state RN license. May require CIC certification. Staff Nurse - RN - Infection Control's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement.   • The Registered Nurse will provide guidance, oversight and services to the health services department to ensure the quality care of all residents and regulatory compliance of the assigned community. This position requires creativity and flexibility with residents who have complex situations and is at times stressful. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing the outlined services, following the nurse practice act, and ensuring quality care to all residents in their care.


    As Needed (PRN) employees typically work less than 86.67 hours per month or less than 25 hours per week. Based on the variable need of the position there may be instances where as many as 40 hours are needed per week. Assignments requiring 30-40 hours per week for greater than 4 weeks may require change to the company payroll in an interim position and will be agreed upon in advance.


    Please note:

    Except as otherwise required by applicable law, employees in this category are not entitled to company benefits other than worked-holiday and sick benefits. This position will be expected to accept at least 1 out of every 3 assignments offered to maintain PRN status. Exact travel availability, states of availability and length of assignments will be reviewed and agreed upon in writing upon hire. After hire, any updates to availability should be provided in writing with a minimum two weeks’ notice.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Is knowledgeable of and adheres to assigned client policies and procedures.
    • Completes required documentation for all assigned duties.
    • Documents and carries out all assigned tasks.
    • In coordination with the Executive Director, provides ongoing guidance and oversight to med techs, caregivers and licensed nurses
    • Works with onsite staff to provide adequate staffing
    • Notifies Executive Director/Resident Care Coordinator when there is not enough staff scheduled.
    • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
    • Maintains confidentiality with resident and fellow employee’s information.
    • Assists with medication pass, medication monitoring and oversight of medication technicians as needed
    • Conducts and holds delegations of medications per state regulations and RN Board of Nursing Law.
    • Works with community to complete/conduct incident/accident and/or medication error investigation and documentation.
    • Communicate with resident/family and physicians regard care needs, incidents, etc.
    • Adheres to dress code
    • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor, Manager or Director

    Routine Duties that may be asked of “As Needed” Registered Nurse:

    • Interim HSD
    • Delegation Nurse
    • Onsite Floor Nurse
    • Extra Nurse for special projects (fit testing, vaccine clinics, COVID Testing, etc.)

    Universal Requirements:

    • Exposure to blood/body fluid likely
    • Exposure to communicable disease(s) likely

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to easily lift and carry 50 lbs. Must be able to stand, walk, stoop and/or bend for periods of up to eight hours with breaks as provided for in the employee handbook.

    Other Requirements:

    • Must be a Licensed Nurse in the appropriate state. RN or Compact RN if accepted by state.
    • Has familiarity and willingness to work with elderly population. Previous experience preferred, but not necessary.
    • Preferred proficiency in English.
    • Attends or completes online in-services as required for position.
    • Receives and maintains First Aide and CPR certification.
