Staff Nurse - RN - Long-Term Care provides professional nursing care to assigned patients in a long-term care facility. Records patient histories, performs various diagnostic tests, administers medications, and develops patient long-term care plans in conjunction with other medical professionals. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Long-Term Care assists physicians during examinations and procedures, operating and monitoring medical equipment as necessary. Observes patients' progress and records observations in patient medical records. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Long-Term Care promotes patients' independence by teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires a valid state RN license. As a Registered Nurse Field Assessor (FA) you would be completing Long Term Care insurance assessments. These hands-off assessments require you to obtain claimant demographics, physician information, a current medication list, and evaluate the claimant’s functional level of independence.
The assessment process also involves completing a brief cognitive screening and evaluating the claimant’s ability to complete ADL and IADL tasks. The ideal candidate will be technologically savvy and be able to use a point of care web application/system on a laptop or tablet, in real time for documentation purposes.
- Must demonstrate good clinical reasoning and judgement as it relates to assessing ADL performance, cognition and home safety.
- Must be comfortable with the use point of care technology when completing assessments.
- Current, unencumbered RN licensure in state of practice.
- Minimum of 2 years of home health experience or 2 years nursing experience in an equivalent area of practice serving the older adult population.
- Has, or be willing to obtain, a professional liability insurance policy.
- Current driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation.
