Staff Nurse - RN - Occupational Health provides professional nursing care to on-site employees. Treats occupational injuries and illnesses, referring patients to emergency care facilities or outside medical resources as needed. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Occupational Health performs pre-employment physical examinations, including vision and hearing screenings, blood work, and other related tests. Maintains employee medical records and ensures that record-keeping procedures comply with legal and confidentiality requirements. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Occupational Health may be responsible for administering flu vaccination, workers' compensation, disability, and/or employee health and safety training programs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing or equivalent. Requires a Registered Nurse (RN) license. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Staff Nurse - RN - Occupational Health work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     We are looking for a Full-Time Occupational Health Nurse (RN) to support our client in Huntsville, Alabama. This is an onsite position that will work Monday-Friday 2:00pm-10:30pm CST.

    This position is responsible for performing regulatory testing, injury/illness triage, assessment, treatment, and wellness education for employees in a clinic setting within the nursing scope of practice as directed by CHR and State Guidelines.


    Responsibilities

    • Provides medical care to clinic patients as requested/needed, and within the RN scope of practice, following treatment care guidelines set forth by the occupational health director.
    • Communicate and update EHS and site supervisors on all work-related injuries/illnesses.
    • Assist in managing, coordinating, documentation of Workers Comp claims & communicating with Client's Work Comp Director, assisting with Injury & Illness management.
    • Input and update all work-related injuries/illnesses in EMR.
    • Maintain Electronic Medical Record and ensure complete & accurate documentation.
    • Communicate with Client's Human Resources department and Work Comp Director to keep them well-informed of employees with work restrictions, work-related absences, etc.
    • Performs regulatory testing including but not limited to: Respiratory medical evaluation, spirometry, audiometry, vision tests, urine test, immunizations, heat stress.
    • Conduct drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the client's substance abuse policy.
    • May perform First Aid, CPR, AED, and other training as necessary.
    • Provides preventive health education to employees as needed within scope of practice.
    • Maintains clinic utilization reports.
    • Participates in general flow of clinic operations (answers phones, checks email, medical records, scheduling, filing, copying charts, traffic control).
    • Maintain clinic's medical & office supplies in collaboration with ancillary staff.
    • Maintains communication with the Clinic Medical Director, Program Manager, & client as necessary.
    • Ensures that employees have appropriate return-to-work clearances.
    • Other duties as assigned or those duties that may be required as management deems necessary.

    Qualifications

    • Education and Experience:
      • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a valid State RN license.
      • Bachelor of Science in Nursing is highly preferred.
      • Must hold current BLS certification.
      • 3-5 years RN experience required
      • 2-3 years' experience in an urgent care, emergency department or occupational health setting preferred
      • Certification in Occupational Health preferred
    • Skills and Competencies:
      • Must be able to demonstrate the ability of maintaining privacy and confidentiality
      • Must have strong critical thinking skills and the ability to make good and timely decisions
      • Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with company policy and procedures
      • Building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions
      • Take initiative on issues that arise daily; Must be able to adapt to changes and demands of real-time situations.
      • Must have the ability to maintain a professional approach with others in job-demanding, multitasking and/or project support situations
      • Ability to create and edit written materials
      • Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences
      • Have the skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
      • Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports
      • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
      • Requires regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
    • Computer Skills:
      • Must be competent in the Windows operating system environment, Adobe Professional, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and learn other software as needed.
    • Physical Demands:
      • Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a desk.
      • Some bending and stretching could be required.
      • Working under stress and use of computer/phone required; Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard.
      • Occasionally may be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and/or crouch.
      • Situations may occur where the employee must help in moving injured or ill employees.
      • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Work Environment:
      • Work environment includes a manufacturing environment and normal office environment as well as climate extremes found in the production operations.
      • Noise level varies with the area of production the employee is working in.
