Staff Nurse - RN - Oncology jobs in Rockford, IL
Staff Nurse - RN - Oncology provides professional nursing care to assigned oncology patients. Records patient histories, performs various diagnostic tests, administers medications including chemotherapy, and develops patient care plans in conjunction with other medical professionals. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Oncology assists oncologists during examinations and procedures, operating and monitoring medical equipment as necessary. Observes patients' progress and records observations in patient medical records. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Oncology teaches patients and families about conditions and treatment options. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. May require ONS/ONCC certification to deliver chemotherapy. Requires a valid state RN license. Staff Nurse - RN - Oncology's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Registered Nurse Responsibilities:
- Record a patient's medical history accurately
- Take and record measurements of blood pressure, temperature, heart rate etc.
- Observe patients under treatment to identify progress, side-effects of medications etc.
- Monitor patients' conditions including fluid intake and output and compose patient charts
- Assist ailing patients in daily necessary activities such as eating, bathing etc.
- Administer injections, prescribed medications, clean and dress wounds and assist with other basic medical care tasks.
- Provide emotional and psychological support when needed
