Staff Nurse - RN - Pediatrics - Home Care provides professional nursing care to assigned pediatric patients in a home care environment. Records patient histories, performs various diagnostic tests, administers medications, and develops patient home care plans in conjunction with other medical professionals. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Pediatrics - Home Care performs examinations and prescribed procedures, operating and monitoring medical equipment as necessary. Observes patients' progress and records observations in patient medical records. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Pediatrics - Home Care promotes patients' independence by teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires a valid state RN license. Engages in continuous growth and development in professional nursing practice. Job Description: EDUCATION: Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma. CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE: RN-Registered Nurse of California BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider DL-California Driver's License INS-Auto Insurance TYPICAL EXPERIENCE: 2 years recent relevant experience SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Demonstrated general knowledge and competence with regard to nursing theories, concepts and practices; medical terminology; anatomy; and physiology. General knowledge of the healthcare industry, safety precaution policies, best practices regarding patient care and privacy, and changes in local/state/federal regulations. Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people. Basic knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Outlook), Electronic Health Record. Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines. Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions. Identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options. Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
